The objectives of the International Short Break Association are:-
 

To form a power centre between various interested parties comprising of groups of political, professional, private organisations and institutions and dedicated individuals.

To bring together a forum for the exchange of knowledge, courses of action and working practises within Short Break care, across client-carer lines.

To improve the standard of Short Break Care in all member countries.

To build a think-tank in the form of a conference which shall contribute to a common understanding for the development of good Short Break Care for the disabled and their families.

To hold an International Short Break Conference every two years.

The conference shall provide the opportunity to acquire knowledge and experience of Short Break Care, across national and cultural bounderies, and to create a professional and physical tool, the aim of which is to secure the home life of families and to ensure the integrity of the family unit.
