The Royal Danish Library extension on the waterfront, The Black Diamond, was inaugurated in September 1999. The building is shaped like a sculptural monolith- a ´shrine`dedicated to the national cultural heritage of the library.
The Black Diamond houses library and exhibition areas, the Danish National Museum of Photography and the Museum of Danish Cartoon Art, a concert hall, conference rooms, restaurant, cafe' and bookshop.
The Black Diamond lies on the waterfront in the centre of Copenhagen,within 5 minutes walking distance from the Central Railway Station, The Danish Parliament and Copenhagen Town Hall Square.
